Life Story

Lara Logan was born in Durban, South Africa on March 29, 1971. She attended high school at Durban Girls' College, to which we say, 'God does exist'. Fast-forward to 2001: Lara has described how she begged a clerk at the Russian Embassy in London to give her an expedited visa days after the September 11, 2001 attacks. She then entered Afghanistan through southern Russia. In November 2001, Lara, then working as a correspondent for the British morning program, GMTV, managed to infiltrate the upper ranks of the Northern Alliance in Afghanistan, where she gained exclusive interviews at Bagram Air Base with General Babajan, a commander. She spent much of the next four years reporting from the field in Afghanistan, travelling often as an embedded reporter with American forces. It is reported she had to shower twice a day, due to how dirty she got being out in the bush and dirt. Two a days is fine by us.In Lara's first major piece for "60 Minutes" (which aired on November 6, 2005), she examined the U.S. Army's efforts at securing the deadly Baghdad Airport Road. Her piece questioned whether Army tactics were alienating Iraqi civilians. Men in the south responded with, "Damn, who cares? You're smokin' hot!" Named chief foreign correspondent of CBS News in February 2006, Logan was embedded with a U.S. military unit in Ramadi, Iraq on March 10, 2006, when a nearby Marine was shot by a sniper. Almost makes you wish you were there.In 1998 Lara married Jason Siemon, who was, until recently, a professional basketball player in the United Kingdom for the now-defunct Brighton Bears. Yes, it's true: the UK apparently has professional basketball. Nigel Jordan and Giles Bryant are the stars of the NBA-UK. She and Siemon separated long ago and their divorce is pending.

Since her separation, Lara has been embroiled in a love triangle while covering the war in Iraq. According to the NY Post, Logan had relations with married federal contractor Joseph Burkett and CNN correspondent Michael Ware. Logan is now pregnant by Burkett, who divorced his wife in June 2008. The child is due in January 2009. According to Lara, she and Burkett plan to marry. CBS has relocated Logan to Washington D.C., because of course, sexual improprieties never happen there.
