Life Story

Actress Sarah Paulson has showed TV audiences that she can play a variety of different characters. Her most recent and notable role was on the critically acclaimed, but short-lived series Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip (Amanda Peet), where she played a right-wing conservative comedian on a late-night sketch comedy show. Characters don't get more specific than that. She was nominated for a Golden Globe in 2006 for her role, but unfortunately the show was canceled after one impressive season.

Paulson was born in Florida, but was raised in New York and considers herself a New Yorkers at heart. Her first screen credit was for Law and Order in 1994. In 1995 she starred in the supernatural show American Gothic, but like Studio 60, the show was never given a chance and was canceled after one season. She appeared in films such as The Other Sister (Juliet Lewis) and What Women Want (Helen Hunt). She also appeared on shows such as Deadwood, Nip/Tuck and Leap of Faith.

In 2005, her partner, Broadway actress Cherry Jones revealed that the two were a couple during Jones' Tony Award acceptance speech. In 2007, the couple became more public with their relationship in an interview with VelvetPark.

Paulson will appear next in the big screen adaptation of Will Eisner's influential comic book series The Spirit, along side Scarlet Johansson, Paz Vega, Eva Mendes, Jamie King and Samuel L. Jackson.
