Real biography: Lauren Holly is an American actress of both the small and big screens. She’s best known to viewers for her roles on Picket Fences (TV), Dumb and Dumber, Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story, and Beautiful Girls. Lauren has cycled through almost as many men as acting roles, and was most notably married to superstar Jim Carrey.

Lauren was born in Bristol, Pennsylvania. Her father is an English literature professor at Hobart and William Smith Colleges, and her mother is an art historian at the University of Rochester. Lauren grew up in Geneva, New York, where she graduated from high school in 1981. She went to Sarah Lawrence College, and following in her father’s footsteps, graduated in 1985 with a B.A. in English Literature.

Lauren then took a turn which must have delighted her academically-minded parents, and turned to acting. Further to what-must-have-been-their-delight, she landed her first big role on the daytime soap All My Children. She worked on the show from 1986-1989, but broke into feature films and primetime television drama in the early ‘90s. Lauren was on Picket Fences from 1992-1996, and during this time filmed two movies which were important to her success. She played Bruce Lee’s wife, Linda, in Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story (1993), and Jim Carrey’s loves interest both on screen and off in Dumb & Dumber (1994).

Lauren’s marriage to Jim Carrey only lasted two years, and she’s since gone on to land parts in a slew of movies and television shows. Lauren is now married to an investment banker, and stars on the television show, NCIS. She continues to pursue film work during her breaks.
