Fergie motto | I won’t say how many men I’ve had sex with, but I'm a very sexual person! |
Hip-hop singer, songwriter and actress Fergie may seem tough, but underneath that hard-edged exterior, there’s a kid just trying to get incorporated. It's sad that she's hot, except she's got a butterface.
The Beginning of Fergie’s Life StoryStacy Ann Ferguson was born and raised outside Los Angeles in Hacienda Heights, California. During her youth, she was involved with Mexican gang members, but she was also a Girl Scout. (That’s one way to move some Savannahs.) Her career biography starts when she was eight and she began doing the voice of Sally Brown in a number of Charlie Brown specials, including It’s Flashbeagle, Charlie Brown. Also as an eight-year-old, the girl who would go on to sing about going down like London Bridge became a cast member on the children’s show Kids Incorporated (K-I-D-S…). Over five years, she went from the youngest member of the show to the oldest, shooting more than a hundred episodes (take that, Martika!).
Before She Was a Household NameShe then partnered with fellow Kids star Renee Sandstrom and Stefanie Ridel to form the female trio Wild Orchid. They released two albums (you may remember Oxygen…or not), but their third record was rejected by the label, and soon the group was disbanded and Fergie was hard into crystal meth. (She has called the drug “the hardest boyfriend I ever had to break up with.”)
She made a small fortune in the early ’90s on the Disney show Kids Incorporated and with the Canadian pop group Wild Orchid. And then lost it all when she became addicted to crystal meth later that decade.
Making a Comeback and MoreIn 2003, Fergie turned things around when she took over female vocal duties for The Black Eyed Peas, energizing the group and collaborating on radio-enamored hits like “Where Is the Love?,” “Let’s Get It Started,” “Don’t Phunk With My Heart” and “My Humps.” In 2006, she released her first solo album, The Dutchess. Although it would win no awards for spelling, it would spawn three U.S. number one hits: “London Bridge,” “Glamorous” and “Big Girls Don’t Cry.” She has also dipped back into acting, appearing in Poseidon (Jacinda Barrett, Emma Rossum), Be Cool (Uma Thurman, Christina Milian) and Grindhouse (Rosario Dawson, Rose McGowan).
These days, she is working on a second album, due out in 2008, and spending time with her boyfriend, Las Vegas star Josh Duhamel. Apparently, that’s where the love is....
Her Claim to FameFergie has many claims to fame, from kids shows to girl groups, but stepping into the spotlight with the Black-Eyed Peas is what got people watching and talking. The first album she recorded with them, Elephunk, was a smash hit. Next came Monkey Business and the single that made her “humps” famous: “My Humps.” Official recognition wasn’t far behind for the entire band when they won Grammy Awards in 2005, 2006, and 2007.
Out on Her OwnShe decided to take her career a step further in 2007 with her very own album, The Dutchess. The album spawned a string of hits and earned her the American Music Award for Best Pop/Rock Female Artist. Success of course leads to more albums and her second one is on the way. In the meantime, she has recorded a single for a film filled with chicks as hot as herself, Sex and the City. While she’s not recording or trying to restart her acting career she’s busy planning a wedding with fiancé Josh Duhamel. Her biography will surely continue with many more things to come in the future.
