Real biography: Introduction

Dorothy Lucey (actually born in 1958, but Chickipedia only allows entries of 1960 and after) is an American entertainment reporter who currently can be seen on "Good Day L.A.," the morning news broadcast of Los Angeles Fox affiliate KTTV. It's just so wacky! You gotta see it! I mean, forget that cup of coffee. These people will perk you up enough!

Life o' Lucey

Like Julia Allison, Lucey graduated from George Washington University with a degree in political science. But that's where the similarities to Julia end. Lucey went into television reporting, back when a poli-sci degree got you a job with health care benefits.

Lucey was an on-air reporter for WNEP in Scranton, Pennsylvania and WABC in New York City, and later joined NBC Sports. She was also a co-host of '"Attitudes", a talk show on Lifetime Television in the 1990s, which was quite faithfully lampooned on "Saturday Night Live," back when SNL was funny and Lifetime was serious. Now it's the other way around. In 1992, she hosted the CBS series "How'd They Do That?" but the show was never able to answer its title, and was cancelled.

Lucey joined "Good Day L.A." in 1995 as the show's entertainment reporter. Much of the show's formula consists of wide-ranging banter between the three anchors. A major part of Lucey's reportage includes extensive coverage of "American Idol," which is completely riveting. As if "American Idol" didn't already take ten hours out of the week to cover itself. This is the pinnacle of a poli-sci major's aspirations, we can only guess.

Personal Life

She has been married since 1993 to KCBS investigative reporter David Goldstein, and they have a young son together named Nash. Nash figures a lot in Lucey's on-air discussions, just like Kathy Lee Gifford's Cody. Except, Nash is never seen (see: Who'd Afraid of Virginia Woolf to find out why).

Lucey also talks religion on the show - she converted from Roman Catholicism to a devout form of Presbyterianism several years ago - though she almost never becomes preachy about it, unlike some people (see Osama bin Laden Islamic fundamentalist gag reel on youtube).
