Life Story

Maybe it was the writing that made Scary Movie such a great comedy, or maybe it was <a style='background:none;' href='http://www.chickipedia.com/anna-faris/' onmouseover="CONTENT_LINKER_TagToTip('ContentPopup_0', WIDTH, 286, TITLE, , SHADOW, false, FADEIN, 200, FADEOUT, 200, STICKY, 1, CLOSEBTN, false, CLICKCLOSE, true)" onmouseout="CONTENT_LINKER_UnTip()" class='autocontentlinks' target='_blank'>Anna Faris</a>'s perky, dimwitted and goreous character Cindy Cambell that made the film a hit. Chances are, it was the later. Faris grew up wanting to be an actress, often pretending to be one in front of her family. At the age of nine, she had her first acting job, working in local theater productions. She graduated from the University of Washington with a degree in English Literature, and decided to move to London to try acting and writing. When things didn't pan out, she returnd to the States and moved to Los Angeles. Keenon Ivory Wayans made a smart choice when, after meeting Faris, he decided to cast her in his horror movie spoof Scary Movie in 2000. The film became a huge success and spawned four sequels, each starring Faris as Cindy.

Faris stared in a much more serious horror film, May in 2002, and played a thinly-vieled version of Cameron Diaz in the Lost in Translation with Scarlett Johansson. In 2004, Faris has a recurring guest role on Friends (Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox-Arquette), playing the surrogate mother of Monica and Chandler's babies. In 2005, she appeared in Brokeback Mountain (Michelle Williams, Anne Hathaway, Kate Mara) and also appeared in My Super Ex-Girlfriend with Uma Thurman. Her next role will be in I Know What Boys Like with Katharine McPhee.
