Amanda MacKay

Journalist and veteran TV host Amanda MacKay is one of the faces of Spike TV’s brand new GameTrailers TV. The show brings fans the latest scoop on the gaming industry's hottest titles, coolest events and biggest stars, offering the access and insight millions of viewers have come to expect from GameTrailers.com.

Regarded as an expert in videogame journalism, Amanda’s work thrust her into the hearts of gamers and the eyes of millions when she hosted the gaming shows GameOne and GT Weekly for MTV Networks on GameTrailers.com, and Pulse on G4/ Tech TV. She also wrote a monthly gaming and tech article for Soak Magazine.

Amanda’s interests are not restricted to videogames though. She is currently hosting segments for Spike TV’s web site, covering everything from the Sundance Film Festival to the Adult Entertainment Expo. You may have seen her as the host of season three of Hardcore Candy; an all girls' action sports show syndicated worldwide or being featured on Kurt the Cyber Guy. She was also asked to co-host Fuel TV’s Design for Humanity special, to co-host the pre show for the Arby’s Action Sports Awards seen on Fox Sports and Fuel, and to host guest spots for Entertainment Tonight Canada.

Currently residing in the Los Angeles area, Amanda grew up in Vancouver, British Columbia. There she graduated from the British Columbia Institute of Technology with a degree in Broadcast Journalism and began her career as co-host of MTV Canada’s flagship series Select. Amanda went on to host and segment produce the “TRL” style show for seven seasons. She was interviewing the biggest names in music and film, while making a name for herself as a media force with skills in front of, and behind the camera.

In addition to Select, while at MTV Canada Amanda hosted and produced the networks only other original program, World Chart Express. WCEX was a weekly show that highlighted music from around the globe and was broadcast on MTV networks internationally.

When not busy hosting and/ or producing shows Amanda likes to work in front of the camera as an actress. Recent roles include USA Network’s The 4400 and the independent feature Rebuy. Other highlights of the past year include posing for Pinups for Pups – a charity calendar that benefits animal shelters, and being featured for the second time in UMM Magazine.

Amanda will continue to build her career and to bring new ideas and positive energy to any show or project she is involved with in the coming years.
