Rebecca Sara Newton aka Becki biography

Becki Newton is an American actress best known for being a member of the hit television show Ugly Betty. Becki broke into acting while in New York, and has guest starred on a number of television series, including Cold Case, The Guiding Light, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, and Charmed. Becki is the cover girl of December 2007’s Esquire magazine, in the UK. One can only hope she’ll be gracing the cover of some US magazines soon.

Becki was born in New Haven, Connecticut, and raised in nearby Guilford, Connecticut. She performed in musicals, and plays at local theaters while a young girl. One can be sure that a Connecticut upbringing is pretty hard. Becki most likely faced deciding between fois gras and caviar on a daily basis, and was forced to fit acting stints in between sails on the family yacht.

Becki attended the University of Pennsylvania and attained a degree in European History. Becki’s undergraduate “studies” were more an excuse for her to travel extensively through Europe and pick up numerous languages (she now speaks four fluently). Upon graduation, Becki moved to New York, and her inherent physical beauty was noticed. She landed several television commercials, guest television spots, and even a hosting role on a celebrity interview show known as Movie Junky.

Becki’s big break came when she landed the role of Amanda Tanen on the hit television show Ugly Betty. At this same time, Becki married her husband, Chris Diamantopoulos. Becki’s a quickly rising star, and her marital status seems to the be only mar from Becki’s otherwise sterling resume.
